The Horseracing industry is united in promoting the welfare of Thoroughbreds and therefore we are delighted to be engaging with different groups and sectors of the community both at the Centre and by regularly doing out reach visits at different events.
Community Engagement at BTRC
Here at BTRC we recognise the importance of interacting with different people from all backgrounds and walks of life. Horses provide focus, routine and responsibility to those who care for them and are a wonderful ‘release’ for many. Welcoming community groups to the Centre allows those who may not normally get the chance to interact with horses an experience they will learn and benefit from. For those groups that have experience with horses it is a chance to learn about British Thoroughbred Aftercare and get to know more about the life our horses lead after their racing days are over.

BTRC Out & About
In addition to working with groups at the Centre, BTRC attend outreach events to engage with the public and raise awareness of British Thoroughbred Aftercare. As well as an information and merchandise stand we regularly take our horses out and about along with the BTRC Mascot, Washbear. As a shetland, Washbear is a great addition to the team as she is interesting to Children and encourages the interaction between horse and human at a young age.
