How to Help

Make a DonationDONATE-NOW

With your support we can give ex-racehorses a new life and purpose…

Donations are the single most important source of income for the BTRC. Since the TRC began is 1991 your donations have enabled the charity to help over 600 horses and to grow from assisting just 8 horses at a time, to today being able to provide a safe place and appropriate re-training for up to 45 horses at any one time. Although we receive a small amount of funding from the Retraining of Racehorses, the majority of our income comes from public donations. To donate online please click here or to make an offline donation please call 01524 812649 or post a cheque (made payable to The British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre LTD) to Whinney Hill, Aughton Road, Halton, Lancaster, LA2 6PQ.

Become a Friend of the BTRC – Committed Giver

Just a small monthly donation can make a huge difference to the horses in our care. The regular donations we receive from our friends and committed givers help us enormously.

As a thank you our family of committed givers are welcome to book a visit to BTRC anytime to see our horses and learn how valuable the donations are to the running and development of the Charity and how each horse benefits directly. You will have the opportunity to meet the team, view the farm and facilities and enjoy watching horses going through their re-training. If you can support us with a monthly donation, please click here to become a friend of the BTRC.

Wills & LegaciesLegacy

By leaving a gift in your will, you help us plan for the future – one where ex-racehorses receive the care, re-training and consideration they deserve. It will cost you nothing during your lifetime but each and every legacy left to the BTRC, whether it is £100 or £100,000, is greatly appreciated and is a wonderful way in which you can ensure your help continues to improve the lives of many horses in the future. If you have already made a Will, asking a solicitor to add a codicil to your existing will enables you to leave a legacy to BTRC whist still ensuring that other provisions remain unchanged and saves you having your Will completely re-written. Work Experience

Here at the BTRC we like to work closely with schools, colleges and universities to welcome students for work experience from both the UK and internationally. We feel students can learn a lot about retraining and rehabilitating ex-racehorses whilst here and have some great feedback from students who have been to work with us. We have taken students from many different places including Reaseheath College, Warwickshire University, Myerscough College, Royal Veterinary College London, Liverpool University and many others. We can offer placements to students age 16 years upwards, and residential placements with on site self catering shared accommodation to 18 years and upwards.
