BTRC Return to Racing at Cartmel Racecourse

The sun was shining on Saturday 17th July for BTRC’s visit to local racecourse Cartmel. This was the first outing for over 18 months and what a wonderful day it was.
Set up on the course side with the BTRC Marquee selling merchandise and providing shelter from the blazing hot sunshine for BTRC Mascot, Washbear, we were ready to greet lots of racegoers. Due to restrictions Cartmel had a limit of 4000 people in attendance on the day but fun was had by all and Washbear still got her fair share of cuddles and carrots! It was a great opportunity to educate racegoers about British racehorse aftercare and the lives of racehorses after their racing days are over.

Despite restrictions, lots of money was raised and plenty of merchandise sold – mainly consisting of umbrellas and caps to provide much needed shade on what was such a hot day. We are so grateful to the team at Cartmel Racecourse for extending the invitation to BTRC and we look forward to going back next year.
